Some previous and future details about the ground The Club was originally known as Newcastle East End which was formed in 1882. In an attempt to bring the Town together the club was renamed Newcastle United in 1892. United meaning together see! The Newcastle East End team went professional in 1889 three years before they changed their name. The Club is known as 'The Magpies' or 'The Black 'n' Whites' because of their infamous Black and White Strips. To the week in and week out supporters they are know as 'The Toon Army'. After recently undergoing major redevelopment to the Stadium the capacity now Stands at 52,000 (previously 36,000). |
